Partie ("we", "our", or "us") operates the Partie platform — a house party discovery and social experience app available at partie.in. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our platform, in compliance with India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDPA).
1. Information We Collect
Information you provide directly:
- Name, email address, and password when you sign up
- Phone number (for OTP verification)
- Profile photo, bio, city, and Instagram handle
- Party listings you create (title, description, location, photos)
- Messages sent via group chat or direct messages
- Reviews and ratings you submit
Information collected automatically:
- Device type, operating system, and browser
- IP address and approximate location (city-level)
- App usage data and interaction logs
- Push notification subscription tokens
Information from third parties:
- Google profile data when you sign in with Google (name, email, profile picture)
- Payment transaction data processed via Razorpay (we do not store card details)
2. How We Use Your Information
- Create and manage your account
- Connect you with parties and people in your city
- Process RSVP requests, payments, and host payouts
- Send notifications about RSVPs, messages, and party updates
- Display your public profile to other users
- Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and safety violations
- Improve the platform through analytics and feedback
- Comply with legal obligations under Indian law
3. Sharing Your Information
We do not sell your personal data. We share it only in these circumstances:
- Other users: Your public profile (name, photo, city, bio, reviews) is visible to other Partie users. Party attendees can see fellow attendees' names and photos.
- Service providers: Supabase (database), Vercel (hosting), Razorpay (payments), Firebase (phone auth), OneSignal (push notifications). All operate under data processing agreements.
- Legal requirements: When required by Indian courts, law enforcement, or regulatory authorities.
- Business transfer: In the event of a merger or acquisition, your data may transfer to the successor entity.
4. Data Storage & Security
Your data is stored on servers located in South Asia (ap-south-1) via Supabase's infrastructure. We use industry-standard encryption (TLS in transit, AES-256 at rest), row-level security policies, and regular security audits.
Passwords are hashed and never stored in plaintext. However, no system is 100% secure — please use a strong, unique password.
5. Your Rights (DPDPA 2023)
Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate or outdated data
- Erase your data (right to be forgotten), subject to legal retention requirements
- Withdraw consent at any time — this may affect your ability to use the platform
- Nominate a person to exercise your rights in the event of your death or incapacity

6. Cookies & Tracking
We use essential cookies to keep you logged in and secure sessions. We use analytics cookies (via PostHog) to understand app usage in aggregate, with no personally identifiable information. You can disable cookies in your browser settings, but this may break login functionality.
7. Children's Privacy
Partie is intended for users aged 18 and above. We do not knowingly collect personal data from minors. If we learn that a user is under 18, we will promptly delete their account and data. If you believe a minor is using the platform, contact us immediately.
8. Retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active, plus an additional period to comply with legal obligations (typically 3 years for financial records under Indian law). Deleted accounts are purged within 30 days, except where legally required to retain.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via in-app notification or email at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
